There is a horizontal line in the middle of the chart and I cannot delete it. How do I remove it?

When viewing an intraday chart, a horizontal line is plotted on the chart at the previous day's close. To remove it, click on Price History | Edit and uncheck the "Show yesterday's close line" option.

Is the data real-time or delayed?

see Data Frequency

I seem to be having problems getting accurate price data on different stocks. Why are my broker's values different than yours?

see Data Frequency

Why does the relationship between price and a 200-day moving average change when I change time frames?

The indicators use the data displayed on the chart in their calculations. So, a 200 period average on a daily chart is a 200-day average. If you change the chart to hourly, it's a 200-hour moving average; on a minute chart, it's a 200-minute moving average.

The price scale shows the correct closing price for the stock but the scale values do not match the stock price.  Why is that?

Try clicking Price History, Comparisons and then un-checking the option to "Show Percent Scale".

How do I add a symbol to a watchlist?

Symbols can be added and removed from Personal Watchlists. All other lists are maintained by our servers and cannot be edited.

What is the significance of red vs. green Volume bars?

Click on Volume, then Edit. In addition to setting the Plot color, you have the option to Color by Price, Up and Down. "Up" and "down" are based on the net change in price from the previous bar. If the net change is zero, then the Plot Color is used to paint the bar. This lets you color Volume by up, down and no change in price.

I'm looking at a Daily chart of MSFT and it's only showing me the last 6 months of history.  How can I make it show a year of history?

Use your mouse scroll wheel or the zoom/scroll slider at the bottom of the chart to zoom in and out on the chart. The chart loads 500 bars of data so on a daily chart you can view about 2 years of history. If you change to a weekly chart, you can view approximately 10 years if you zoom all the way out.

Why can't I assign F10 as a hot key for my chart template?

F10 is reserved by Microsoft in Silverlight.

I've forgotten my password, how can I find out what it is?

Click the Sign-In button and then click the "Forgot Password" link. Type in your email address and then click the Email Password button. If you don't see the email with our password in a few minutes, check your Junk Email or Spam folder. You might need to add support@worden.com to your "Safe Senders" list.

Why does the value of my 50-day moving average change when I go from a Daily chart to a Weekly chart?

All indicators are plotted using periods. The period changes with the time frame on the chart. A 50 period moving average on a Daily chart is a 50-day moving average. A 50 period moving average on a weekly chart is a 50-week moving average.

When I press the "ABC" to add a note the only thing that appears on the chart is the word "note". How do I write text on the chart?

Click on "note" and an edit box will pop up for you to type in your note.

Why are some candlesticks red on bars where the close is above the open?  Shouldn't the candle be green on an "up" candle?

There are several ways to configure candlesticks.  Traditional candles are hollow when the close is above the open and filled when the close is below the open. Some software programs use color instead to distinguish up candles from down candles.  We give you the ability to customize the candlesticks.  In the example below, the candles are hollow or filled based on the relationship between the open and close, but they are colored based on the net change from the previous candle.

I've installed Microsoft Silverlight on my Mac G4 so why can't I use the program?

Some older Macs with the PowerPC chip are only supported by version 1 of Silverlight.  The program requires Silverlight 2.

How do you do erase Fibonacci retracements from the chart?

To erase Fibonacci retracements (or any other drawing tool), you have to hover over the original line used to draw the retracement. If drawn some time in the past, this line may be out of the visible portion of the screen. Zoom out our select a higher time frame (weekly, etc.) to bring it into view.

Do you have plans to add Slow Stochastic indicators to your service?

A slow stochastic is just a 3-period smoothing of the %K calculation. Set the %K parameter to 3 for a slow Stochastic.

How do I turn off scrolling ticker?

Click the Tools menu and uncheck "Show Scrolling Ticker"

Is it possible to go back beyond 2 years of a stock's history?

The chart displays 500 bars. If you want to see further back you'll need to increase the time frame to 2-day, Weekly, etc.

How do you bring up candlesticks?

Click on Price History, then Edit and change the Plot Style to Candlesticks.  You can also set this as the default plot style on all new charts by clicking Tools | System Defaults and changing the Default Plot Style to Candlestick.

Why don't the moving averages on my chart match the moving averages in my other charting application?

Two things to check: 1) Make sure the Average Type (simple, exponential) is the same and 2) make sure you are plotting a moving average of price and not some other plot on the chart.  If you hover your mouse over the MovAvg legend on the chart you can see the line used as the source of the average. Figure 1 below shows a 50 period moving average of price.  Figure 2 shows a 100 period average of a 50 period average. Another reason they may not match is if you're using Heikin-Ashi candles which are calculated from the underlying price data.

How can I look at multiple charts for the same symbol with each set to a different time frame?

If you want to see multiple time frames of the same symbol, you'll need to add additional charts to your layout.  This is easily done using the Chart button on the toolbar.

Why doesn't the trendline I drew on a 10 minute chart display correctly on a 4 hour chart?

Drawing tools are anchored to their position on a chart, which is why you see significant changes between time frames when there are large differences between bar intervals. We have a function available in the Drawing Tools menu on your chart that will allow you to hide drawings that aren't large enough to be useful.
