Day 1 (Friday) click session to reveal details

Session One (10:00 - 11:10 am)

A detailed study of three different basic orders that you can use to buy 100 shares of a stock. Using a Buy Limit, Long Call and Short Put, we’ll explore the advantages and disadvantages of each order type and why you might use any one. Plus, we’ll examine all the "moving pieces" involved in the on-chart tickets that make placing the orders simple and intuitive. You’ll gain an understanding of these simple stock & option orders for live or simulated trading. Plus, you’ll get the advantage of seeing the trade tools used in live market conditions.

Session Two (11:20 - 12:30 pm)

Creating and executing Conditional Orders—orders based on some specific behavior(s) you want to see in a particular indicator setup or price action. We’ll review the actual toolset used to create conditions for trading. Using practical examples with different price and indicator setups, we’ll practice all the steps for these orders. Plus, we’ll explain the simple process of placing option orders triggered with conditions from the underlying stock. (Focus in this session will be more on conditional trading, but you will also learn to construct conditions for scans and alerts.)

Session Three (1:30 - 2:40 pm)

The "why’s" and "how’s" of multi-legged option trades. We will build several multi-legged orders (i.e. spreads, strangles and condors), talk through both the mechanics for setting them up and the rationale used for trading them. We’ll also use option charts and chains to illustrate how the chart P&L Zones show how the "moving pieces" of option trades relate (e.g. expiration dates, strike prices, intrinsic and time values, etc.) This session will help you understand the basic elements of multi-legged option strategies as well as the mechanics to use them.

Session Four (2:50 - 4:00 pm)

A practical examination of the different order types available for live or practice trading. We will dig into market and limit orders; stop and stop-limit orders; and trendline and indicator orders for buying or selling stocks or options. Plus, we’ll see how to use trailing stop/stop-limit orders for closing positions. We’ll also look in detail at step-to-market and step-to-limit orders which allow you to use the spread to try and get a preferable fill. You’ll leave this session with the information you need to start matching your order types with your trading aims.

Day 2 (Saturday) click session to reveal details

Session Five (10:00 - 11:10 am)

Two of the best organizational tools in TC2000 are WatchLists and Chart Templates. We will practice multiple ways to create personal WatchLists as well as explore the system WatchLists which are automatically maintained in TC2000. Plus, we’ll walk through the steps for adding and editing plots like technical studies, historical fundamentals and comparative price graphs to your chart for a custom analysis experience. You’ll learn to save them as chart templates and use them in different layouts. This session will prepare you to create and use these key research tools in your daily trading routine.

Session Six (11:20 - 12:30 pm)

A walk through the steps of creating a condition from price action, indicator setups, fundamental values or personal criteria formula. We will learn how to save conditions, combine groups of conditions in condition sets and apply them as sort columns, scan filters or single/multiple alerts. We’ll also write some simple PCFs (personal criteria formula) to use as conditions. You’ll end this study with the tools to create conditions and use them to find stocks that meet your specific setups. (Focus in this session will be more on conditions for scans and alerts, but you will also learn to construct conditions for placing trades.)

Session Seven (1:30 - 2:40 pm)

Using the prebuilt Drill Down and Sector-By-Year layouts, we’ll explore a simple method for "top-down" analysis. We will practice some techniques using Custom Date Sort, filter sectors and industries by conditions created on-the-fly and find one-click ways to plot the sectors/industries for any active symbol. We’ll also explore the unique "Related Items" WatchList to find stocks that make up sectors/industries and what ETFs hold those same stocks. In this session, you’ll begin to understand and use these fully integrated sector/industry tools.

Session Eight (2:50 - 4:00 pm)

A "nuts & bolts" session on how to create a layout composed of different tools—e.g. WatchLists, charts, news, trading tools, reports, etc. These layouts are the ways you place research tools you depend on at your fingertips. We will construct the tools you want to use into Layouts and save them in Layout groups. We’ll also explore the Position, Orders and Trades windows by which you can track your trading. Then we’ll customize some order tickets to get your favorite order setups at your fingertips. This session gives you the techniques you need to create a custom, streamlined trading environment.
